How to turn formal reviews into honest, useful conversations
Too many reviews become a form-filling exercise.
They happen once or twice a year, cover familiar questions and finish with actions that are quickly forgotten. The result is a conversation that takes time but creates very little meaningful change.
In this practical session, I will be joined by Thomas Coles to explore how leaders can make reviews more honest, constructive and useful for everyone involved.
We will look at how to prepare well, recognise strengths, discuss development needs and agree actions that lead to genuine progress.
The session will also draw on a principle I value from Radical Candor: caring personally while challenging directly. The aim is not to be blunt. It is to respect people enough to give them the clarity they need to grow.
